Simon has worked in and around rivers for over 25 years, including positions with the Environment Agency, Westcountry Rivers Trust and now The Rivers Trust, the national umbrella body for the Rivers Trust movement. He also undertakes freelance work, specialising in helping community groups with both monitoring of their local rivers and devising nature-based solutions to help reduce runoff and improve water quality.

Simon’s talk will include a summary of the problems facing rivers in England and an explanation of what nature-based solutions are and how they can help. There will be an explanation of the techniques employed to identify runoff and erosion hotspots in the Sid catchment and some examples of proposed solutions.
