On February 14th a Group of Volunteers, Led by SVBG, Started To Remove The Invasive Alexanders From Amongst the Daffodils On Peak Hill.
Though not part of the natural fauna and therefore not actually native to this cliffside the daffodils have become a well well loved and iconic symbol of Sidmouth. They have appeared in many East Devon tourist brochures. The daffodils have declined in recent years due to the invasive Alexander’s, a plant brought by the Romans as an edible garden plant.
Alexanders has its merits but in recent years have been allowed to seed profusely and have so become invasive that the daffodils have increasingly become blind (non flowering).

I am so pleased you are dealing with this problem of the Alexanders. They should never have been allowed to take over as they have done. Well done, and hopefully now we will get the Daffodils back looking as glorious as they did some years ago.
