Tune in to birds
Date Saturday 10 June |
Time 08:00-9:30 |
Starting point Five-barred gate at entrance to The Knapp nature reserve on Station Road, Sidmouth. ///flank.gasp.funds Free, unlimited parking available on road. |
Leader Maz Hartwell. As a volunteer ecologist I spend many hours in the company of wild birds and have developed a special interest in bird communication and behaviour. |
Details On this slow-paced stroll around The Knapp we will immerse ourselves in the songs and calls of the birds. By tuning in to their sounds, we will recognise the different species and explore how they use sound to interact with the world around them. |
Maximum capacity 15 |
Approximate length of walk 1 km |
Type of terrain Slight inclines but level in parts. Part surfaced paths and part grass. |
What should I bring Binoculars if you have them, but they are not essential. |
Who should attend Everyone welcome. Don’t be deterred if you have less-than-perfect hearing. (Hearing aid users often find listening to birds improves their ability to focus on sound.) |
Anything else If you bring a dog there will be less chance for us to experience close encounters with birds. However, assistance dogs are welcome. |
