Workshop leader Alex Boon is a lifelong artist, writer, and nature lover with a background in environmental science. After moving to Devon in 2016, he began his first nature journal and has been keeping them ever since. He teaches workshops and courses in nature journaling, promoting it as a nurturing creative activity to help people notice and find joy in nature close to home. He teaches nature journaling in person in the local area and also online to participants from all over the world. |
Details of the workshop Nature journaling is a calm, restorative creative practice rooted in deeply observing nature in your local area. In this workshop, you will have the chance to try it. The workshop will begin with a brief talk about what to expect, provision of prompts and materials. Then we will go out to some urban biodiversity sites to practice. We will return for the last hour of the session, to try creating some artwork based on the outdoor experience, using Derwent Inktense watercolour pencils. |

What to wear/bring Materials will be provided (a sketchbook and pencil to keep, plus art materials to use during the workshop only) but participants may bring their preferred art materials if they wish. Dress for the weather as we will be outside for half of the workshop duration at least. |
Who should attend The workshop is suitable for anybody including complete beginners. Children must be accompanied. |
